MAN TGX three-axle trucks are designed for national and international long-distance transport of heavy and oversized loads where efficiency and productivity are crucial factors. The MAN TGS 26x560 combines a D38 engine, a transmission from MAN TipMatic and a standard inverter clutch. With a massive 3,000 Nm of torque, it gently sets loads of up to 250 tonnes in motion. The most powerful engine brake, the Turbo EVB, is directly developed for transporting heavy loads - achieving a permanently usable braking power of 600 kW. Combined with the intarder in the gearbox, the total braking power is 750 kW.
MAN TGX D38 engine in Euro 6
Lending its name to MAN's powerhouse: the powerful MAN D38 engine series. The common-rail diesel engine trumps with extremely high injection pressures of up to 2500 bar and a powerful ignition pressure of 250 bar, ensuring the best pulling power while keeping fuel consumption low. To make every already demanding deployment seem easier, a two-stage turbocharger with cooling additionally ensures an optimal supply of combustion air to the engine. The result: an optimal turning pattern that gets your truck to its destination quickly, efficiently and reliably. Robust, energised and always ready: our MAN D38 engines.
MAN Exhaust Valve Brake (EVBec, Exhaust Valve Brake electronic controlled) and Turbo EVB guarantee maximum braking performance. It reaches 340 kW, even 600 kW on heavy-duty vehicles.
Unlike existing engine brake systems, the throttle valve on the Turbo EVB is located before the turbochargers and can therefore generate more backpressure in braking mode. Combined with the higher air flow in braking mode, the system achieves a maximum braking power of 600 kW at 2,400 rpm.
With the Turbo EVB engine brake, much of the heat energy generated during braking is not dissipated into the engine cooling system, but directly out with the exhaust stream.
